EMDR
What is EMDR Therapy?
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a powerful, evidence-based therapy recognized by major health organizations worldwide. It helps resolve emotional distress caused by difficult life experiences.
How EMDR Works?
EMDR helps your brain process disturbing memories that have become "frozen" and continue causing distress. During sessions, you'll focus on troubling memories while engaging in bilateral stimulation (typically eye movements, taps, or tones), allowing your brain to process these experiences in a new way. This reduces their emotional impact without requiring detailed discussion of traumatic events.
What EMDR Effectively Treats
EMDR is highly effective for:

-
Trauma and PTSD
-
Anxiety and panic
-
Relationship difficulties
-
Depression
-
Grief and loss
-
Performance anxiety
What to Expect
Sessions typically last 60-90 minutes. After preparation and skill-building, we'll identify specific memories to target. You'll remain fully conscious and in control throughout the process, and can stop at any time. Most people experience significant relief within 6-12 sessions, though complex trauma may require more time.
Many clients report:

-
Rapid shifts in perspective
-
Decreased emotional reactivity
-
New insights about past experiences
-
Lasting relief from symptoms
EMDR offers a gentle yet effective approach to healing that doesn't require extensive retelling of painful stories. Research shows benefits are maintained over time, with 84-90% of single-trauma clients experiencing complete resolution of PTSD symptoms after just 3-6 sessions.
